Jabeena Maslin
Dorset based horse trainer and Olympic coach Jabeena Maslin was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her service to modern pentathlon, in the New Years Honours list in January 2022. Jabeena is the coach of the Olympic Pentathlon Equestrian Team and helped Team GB win an unprecedented double gold at the Tokyo Games in 2021.

In her youth Jabeena competed in every major showjumping competition including Royal Windsor Show, meeting the Queen aged five. She represented Great Britain on junior and young rider teams. The British pentathlon team first came calling in 1974 under Capt Jim Fox, one of the founding fathers of the sport here and a part of the three man team which won gold at Montreal in 1976.

Jabeena has coached every GB Modern Pentathlon team since the Seoul Olympics in 1988, bringing home countless medals for her country.

In her riding days Jabeena's trade mark was her bowler hat and pig tails. Now immortalised on our weather vane and an illustration by artist Kate Hurford.

The yard is made up of a combination of competition horses (both our own and those belonging to clients), liveries (hunters, breakers, schooling, competition etc) and schoolmasters. We back and produce show jumpers right through the grades. Currently winning at county level and internationally, with some exciting young horses coming through and being aimed at national finals. We also take horses for schooling (difficult ones a speciality) and competition livery. "One of the highlights of my time photographing Olympic gold medalist Kate French’s training was a gloomy, grey, wet winter's day near Beaminster in Dorset with her riding trainer, a veteran of many Olympics, Jabeena Maslin. What a character she is. Both have been awarded an MBE. It’s of these days of grind and constant practice that champions are made. What a privilege it was to witness it."
